Much of our unwanted, unnecessary stress comes from worrying about the unknown of the future, planning events to come or wishing we had done, said differently in passed events, holding onto situations we cannot change. Being present allows us to fully experience the world around us, in all its beauty, to create new relationships, to experience joy in even the simplest of forms. If you've ever observed a child at play they are fully present, fully vested in the activity at hand and additionally, being rightfully free to be as creative, expressive as they choose to be in that moment.
